Rekeying
Homes, rentals and businesses
Old keys stop working. Your locks stay on the door.
- Just bought a houseYou do not know who still has a key. This fixes that.
- Tenant moved outQuick, and much cheaper than new locks.
- Lost your keysSame answer. The old ones stop working.
- Too many keys on your ringWe can make one key open every door.
Why not just buy new locks?
You can, but rekeying costs a good deal less and does the same job unless the lock itself is worn out.
More about rekeying
When you should rekey
You just bought a house and have no idea who holds a key. The previous owners, their kids, a realtor, a cleaner, a contractor. A tenant moved out. You lost a keyring. A relationship ended. An employee left. In every one of those cases, rekeying costs a fraction of replacing the locks and takes the same afternoon.
Rekey vs. replace
Replace the lock when the hardware itself is worn out, damaged, or you are upgrading to something more secure. Rekey when the hardware is fine and you simply need the old keys to stop working, which is most of the time.
One key for the whole house
If your front door, back door, garage entry, and deadbolt all take different keys, we can rekey them so a single key opens everything. Most people find this worth doing on its own.
Landlords & property managers
We handle turnover rekeys on rentals and short-term vacation properties throughout Helen, Sautee, and the cabin country. Repeat work gets scheduled around your check-in times.
